FRANKTON CROQUET CLUB

SOCIAL AND DANCE. A social and dance under the auspices of the above, was held last night in the Frankton Town Hall. Tiiere was a good number present and a ver}- enjoyable time was spent, the chief attraction being a waltzing competition. The floor was in good order, and the dresses of the ladies being very pretty, the well lighted hall showed them off to perfection. There were twelve entries for the competition, and some good waltzing was displayed, hi Mr W. 0. McFadden the committee were verv fortunate in getting such a callable man for judge, and his decisions were absolutely perfect and received the applause of (he people, when the winners were announced. The prizes were handsome and costly, the ladies' prize being a nice ladies' companion, and the gentlemen's a collar box. These were won by Mrs Smith and Mr Nolan respectively. MrsO'Leary and Mr Herbert were each adjudged second places. Songs were rendered by Mr Phillips. A good supper was provided by the committee and was greatly appreciated. The music was supplied by Mr and Mrs Donovan, their time both in the competition and the other dances being perfect. Mr M. J. Belgrave performed the duties* of JiC. in a very capable manner.
