♦ — THE MEAT STRIKE. ALL SHOPS TO BE OPENED] TODAY. Received 8.30 a.m.. sth. Sydney, March 5. The master butchers state that every shop in the metropolitan area will be opened today They allege that many volunteers have offered, including a number of unionist shopmen. They also claim that 5000 farmers and their sons are ready to come in from the country if needed. The men deny that any unionists have returned, but a meeting will be held this forenoon, whereat the leaders will explain the position FREE LABOURERS CAPTURED. RESCUED BY FARMERS. Sydney, March 4. In connection with the rural workers' strike, a body of unionists yesterday raided a farm near Wagga, compelled a number of nonunionists to leave work, and marched I hem to the town. A strong force of farmers was later enrolled and visited the unionists' camp. They delivered the captives and escorted them back to work. Melbourne, March 4. Under protest from the steam- ( ship owners against resuming the, hearing of the waterside workers' case while the stevedores refused to fall into line by working overtime, Mr Justice HiKsins, in the Arbitration Court today, further adjourned the case fill Tuesday.
