ST. PETER'S SCHOOL PICNIC
The annual picnic in connection with St. Peter's Sunday Schools was held on Saturday at Newstead. Pour schools were represented viz., St. Peter's, Ulster street and Claudelands. Well over 200 children attended, and there were more adults present than at any of the previous picnics. Leaving Hamilton by the 10.10 train, they proceeded to the farm of Messrs Scott Brothers. As usual, the proprietors proved most attentive and generous, supplying milk, etc., as they have done for more than ten years past. Sports were held in the afternoon for the boys and girls. The company returned by the train leaving Cambridge at 0 o'clock, and there was not a dull moment from start to finsh. The Ven. Archdeacon Cowie, who was present during the day, expressed the opinion that this year's picnic was the must successful of the whole series, Its importance is growing from year to year. Hitherto the event has always been held on a public holiday, but it was decided to depart from this rule, and, judging from the result, it is not -at all likely to be reverted to. The plan of adopting a Saturday at the beginning of the school session answered admirably. Much of the credit for the success of the picnic is due to Miss Alice Bond and the otner teachers, also to Mr H. G. Sergei and Mr F. A. Snell. Mr O'Shea, Hamilton stationmastor, was very attentive, fand the gathering at both ends was very kindly looked after by the railway officials.
