CLAUDELANDS BURGLARY
MAN ARRESTED THIS MORNING. In connection with the burglary at Claudelands store on 9th inst., Constable Hern ibis morning, at halfpast six, effected the arrest of a middle-aged man,dressed in a pepper and salt suit, near Te Rapa. In his possession the man had a set of skeleton keys, with which, it is suspected, entrance to the store was gained, also a pair of gloves suitable for preventing detection by means of fingerprints and a screw-driver, the articles being of exceptionally good manufacture. The prisoner gave bis name as Win. Tliain. At the Hamilton Police Court, this morningf— Mr J. W. Walsh on the Bench—Thain was remanded for 21 hours on a charge of breaking into the store and stealing 15s worth of stamps and -Is fid worth of chocolate. There was a considerable amount of cash in the store when the burglary was committed, but being all locked up in the safe it was beyond the skill of the burglar to reach it.
