WAIKATO CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
A meeting of the committee of the Wainato Caledonian Society was held in Messrs Gosling and Higgins' office, Frankton, last evening. Mr Geo. Walt, jnr., presided, and there was a good attendance. A letter was received from Mr Mackenzie Forbes, vVanganui, accepting the position of judge in the piping and dancing events. Mr G Watt, jnr., forwarded a donation of i'l Is for a medal to be awarded in the Highland dancing section.
With regard to the hire of the Town Hall for the concert on the evening of the sports, Messrs Watt, McArthur and Glasgow were appointed a committee to wait upon the Frankton Picture Company to see .what arrangements could be made. The same committee was empowered to confer with the Frankton Borough Council in the matter if the occasion arises.
The acting-secretary, Mr McVeigh, reported that entries promised to be very good, there being a stream of 'inquiries daily coming to hand.

The acting-secretary reported that no reply had been received from the Frankton Town Band with regard to music on the occasion of the sports. Mr Allen was deputed to interview the band officials on the matter. The ground committee was recommended to hold a working bee at an early date for the improvement of the ground, and the question of obtaining the necessary vehicles to water arid roll the track was left in the hands of Mr Allen.
