WOOL SALE

By Telegraph.- Press Association. Cbristchurch, Tuesday. The second wool hide of the season's series was held in the Alexandra Hall yesterday when 22,135 hales were catalogued, as against 27.096 at the January sales last year. The condition Of the wool was much the same as that offered at the December sale, and was iot only heavier in grease, but liner than last season's clip. One experienced buyer says he has never seen such line wool in New Zealand as has been offered at the Dominion sales this season. One Canterbury clip is of mo's quality- the lust time he had seen this high figure reached by New Zealand wool. There was a very large attendance of buyers, and a representative of Japan was an interested spectator of the proceedings. The tone of the sale showed a decided improvement compared with that held in November, the bidding being much keener, and prices were generally firmer except perhaps in the case of coarse and inferior woulo. The most improvement was shown in line halfbred wools, for which there was mure competition. Home buyers showed more spirit in their bidding- than at the prveious sale. Only a small proportion of the wool was passed in, and the sale on the whole was a very satis factory one. The following was the range "of prices with those given at the. December sales shown after rule' by way of comparison:—Supermerino, 12d to 13d—12d to 13d, medium and inferior merino, lid to llj[d Did to 11 Jd; super, halfbred 12d to 1 Id- 1 lid, 13R med. halfbreds jniil to Hid- KHI to lid; inferior halfbred, B|d to lOd—71(1 to OJd; super.
