The banking returns for the December quarter give the following figures compared with the same quarter in the preceding year:— Advances, 1912, £21,396,050; 1913, £21,636,745 ;discounts,£l9,lso,494 £20,014,589; fixed deposits, £lO,438,731 £12,468,049-£10,545,345; note cirlation 21,712,436-61,671,075; coin and bullion £5,237,767—£5,290,182; assets £31,1192,277—£30,903,793; liabilities £26,128,401—£27,201,394; Government deposits £1,342,976 £2,086,064.
