AN APPEAL.
To the Editor. Sir, Would you kindly allow space for an appeal on behalf of a needy case. Some time ago one of our back block settlers took up a section of land, some twelve miles, by only a pack horse road from Waimihn, the nearest railway station. Here he started with his wife and six children (all under 1 1 years of age) to carve out a home. Fair progress was made for a while; then as a result of a heart strain three years ago, the bread winner was incapacitated, and lay unable to work, The only one being able to do anything for the family being the eldest boy. Latterly, the patient became worse, and the settlers carried their neighbour on a .stretcher the twelve miles to the train. He now lies in a very low state in the Waikato Hospital. It is for the wife and helpless children that we appeal. The cold and wet of winter is upon us; a few sympathisers have collected some necessary clothing for immediate use, but money is urgently needed to provide blankets and other necessaries. Any donation - large or small will lie thankfully received by the undersigned, or may be left at the office of this paper. Acknowledgment will be made through the columns of the Argus. MRS .1. M. JONES, Claudelamls (president W.C.TU.), or MRS W. AKI.lt, Hamilton.
