ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, This Day. Wong Chuck, a dapper-looking young Celestial, was charged with attempting to kill his wife (a white woman; by attacking her with a knife. It appeared the wife visited the house of another Chinaman during the absence from home of her husband. The other man afterwards saw her home ard went inside. Wong returned and found the two together. He flew into a violent passion, and ordered the intruder to leave. He then picked up a knife and rushed at Mrs Wong and attempted to do for her. A constable’s attention was attracted by the woman’s screams. He rushed in and found the man and wife struggling together. By the time he had obtained an entrance Wong had a knife in each band. The constable heard him say “I’ll kill you.” He pulled the Chow off and took him to the cells. The woman had sustained some scratches to her face. Wong was remanded, bail being refused.
