Miss Irene Ainsley.
The Sydney Morning Herald says: —"Miss Irene Ainsley, whose splendid voice and dramatic style so favourably impressed her audience at Paling's concert hall on Monday, will open her antipodean tour early next month at Auckland, her native city, which she left four years ago, after successful study under Mr Arthur Boult and Mm. Lilian Tree, at the advice of Mme. Melba. In London the young contralto studied first under Mme. Minna Fischer, and she then entered the Marchesi School foils months in Paris, and during that time had many lessons from Mm. Melba herself. Two years ago Mme. Melba organised a very elaborate debut for the young singer at the Beehstein Hall, London, in the presence of the Prince and Princess of Wales, and three days later she sang at Marlborough House, when the Princess presented her with a beautiful souvenir brooch, which she still wears. In England Miss Ainsley has supported on separate tours Herr Wilhehn Backhaus, pianist, Signor Busoni, pianist, Mme. Ella Russell, soprano, Mile. Donald, soprano, and other famous artists, and has been soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra under Mr Landon Ronald's baton. This year, before leaving for Australia," Miss Ainsley closed her list of engagements with an important appearance with the Liverpool Philharmonic Society, so that at the termination of her antipodean tour she wi'l return to an assured career in the Old Country.
