HAMILTON NO-LICENSE LEAGUE

A REFUTATION. TO TIIK EDITOR. Sir, — A parcel of the lenllot referred to in your issue of yesterday was received last Thursday at our ollice among 8000 miscellaneous leaflets, and in the hurry of distribution some copies wore inserted in the Patriot, hut in no case was one put in an envelope and posted. Upon closer examination by members of our committee it was resolved to stop the circulation. On Saturday morning a Mr Brown, an electrician—a man well-known in the town, interviewed our secretary, representing himself as a uo-licenso worker, and stating that ho had boon requested by his father-in-law, the Rev. H. ,T, Lewis, o£ Paoroa, to obtain for him a supply of the leaflet. Our secretary said that he had been instructed by the Longue to cease posting any literature for the electorate after Thursday. Mr Brown, however, pleaded so hard that the secretary gave way. The parcel was there and then wrapped up and stamped and addressed by Mr Brown, who took it to post. Our committee is now in possession of indisputable evidence that copies of the identical leaflet were posted in Hamilton and delivered to lady voters in the town. With this wo had nothing whatever to do. —I am, etc., .1. D. Melville, President, Hamilton No-License League.
