BLOODLESS SURGERY .
A WAIKAL'O CASE. HEAVY CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. [BY TELF.OBAI'H —CRESS ASSOCIATION] Auckland, This Day. At the Supremo Court Jessie Graham, of Ohaupo, Waikato, claimed from Max Uerz, of Christchurch, surgeon, £3OO general damages and £274 special damages, sustained as the result of alleged unskilful treatment and negligence. Plaintiff, who suffered from a clubfoot, last year consulted Dr. Herz, who was then practising in Christchurch, in order to have h*T foot straightened by means of “ bloodless surgery,” of which defendant is an exponent. Plaintiff alleges that the defendant agreed to put her foot right for thirty guineas, which was paid in advance. Sho underwent the treatment, but bad symptoms set in until eventually she lost four toes, and the solo of the foot was affected with gangrene and failed to heal, and skin grafting operations had to he performed. Early in the present year defendant left for Auckland, and plaintiff consulted another practitioner, who cured the wound in the foot. Plaintiff was unable to walk, and was likely to he a permanent cripple. The case is unfinished.
