WAITOA ROAD BOARD.
«■ The ordinary meeting of the above was ' held on Saturday, Mr W. P. Chepmell presiding over a full attendance of members. FOREMEN'S EEPORTS. Foreman Maonion's report dealt prin cipally with the work taken in hand since last meeting, and the progress of contracts. He referred to some culverts on the Maungakawa Road which needed attention. Foreman Parr reported that se era coutr.icts had been completed, aod satis factory progress made on others. He staled that, tak-n as a whole, the roads in his district were in very faircoudition. The reports were adopted and Foreman Maonion was authorised to employ an extra man for a week or two. CROSSING WANTED. Messrs McGloiu and Warren waited upon the Board re getting a railway crossing made three miles from the waihou Station. The Department, to whom application had beou made, had advised that such matters must be dealt with through the local body. The Chairman stated that the Pinko County Council was the proper body to take the question up. The deputation thereupon thanked the Board and withdrew. THE BOLL. The following applications for insertion on the roll were received and dealt with : R. D. Jones, as owner of part of Waihekau Block. T. Hanna, as owner of Seotions 1, o, 4, and 5, Hunga Hunga. T. B. Fisher, as owner of Section 4S. TENDERS Tho following tenders were accepted : Supplying, laying and covering 1200 fascines—P. B. Hughes, £3O. Widening and deepening about 60 chains of drain and road formation— James O'Brien, £SO ss. WORKS Mr Taylor drew attention to tho bad state of Ross' Road. —Left in the hands of iToremaii Parr. Mr Bellamy urged the Board to undertake work on the Factory Road at once. —It was resolved to call for tenders returnable on ,Saturday next. Several settlers on Block XI having subscribed towards the cost of cleaning out the old Government drain, the Board decided to put the work io hand forthwith. baker's road Mr Farmer again brought up the question of Baker's Road and regretted that the Board had not done something in the matter. The ohairman suggested that Mr Farmer should hand the road over to the Board. Mr Farmer said he had made the Board a very good offer, and had it been accepted he woul.i have been prepared to nave handed over the major portion of the proceeds towards improving the road. Ihe chairman thought the road should be taken, and moved that a legal opinion be obtained on the matter. This was o.rried. FINANCE The chairman stattd thi't the Board's overdraft at present was £l5O.
