WAITETUNA.
Dance.—On Friday a very enjoyable dance was held in the Te Mata schooK room. There was a goodly number present, representatives of all parts of the district. Messrs Jerome, Vernon and McCracken provided excellent music. Mr W. Vernon proved an efficient M.C., and dancing was kept up till 10 o'clock. Te Ukd Landing.—A meeting of set. tiers of the Te Uku and Waitetuna districts was held at Mr Sutton's residence; Waitetuna. The object being to secure the erection of a shed for storing goods at Te Uku landing. Mr J. A. La Trobo was in the chair. It was decided to raise £2O towards the costs, the contribution from each settler interested was fixed at £llos, A committee consisting of Messrs J. A. La Trobo, A. Sutton, Aitkin Bros. (2), E. A. Edmonds, E. Featherstoohaugh and H. E. Matthews were appointed to carry out the work, Departure.—Mr P. M. La Trohe, who has been a resident of the Raglan district for many years, leit last week with his family for Cambridge, where he intends to establish himself iu business and reside for the future. Mr and Mrs La Trobe have many friends here, and will be greatly missed. Reaper and Binder —Mr W. Vernon has been kept busy with his reaper and binder cutting oats on the various farms in the district. He has just completed cutting a field of oats for Mr John Mood, Te Uku, and has goue on to Mr A. Sutton's, Waitetuna. ISow that there, is this labour-saving implement in the dis* trict, a much larger area of oats will no doubt be planted. The fine weather of the last week or two has been an immense benefit to many of our farmers, some of whom have hari grain in stook for several weeks. They have now been enabled to get it into stack. —(Own Cor--respondent).
