SUPPOSED SUICIDE.

(BY TELEGRAPH —I-RKS.S ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, Last Night. Yesterday, at half-past one, it was reported to tho police by a man named John Archibald that the body of au old man named John Broughton, ag.-d 73 years, had been found iu the Whnu Creek. Constable Gurdou, of Avondale, went out and recovered tho body, uud on examination a cut was found on tire throat, and also on the breast, which might have bean eaused by the point of a pocketknifo.

Deceased, who was an old age penaiouer, lived at Avondale with his wife, and was last seen alive by her at 7 p.m. on Saturday uight at Lis home. Mrs Broughton was going to the store at tlio time. When she eame back at eight o’clock he was missiug.
