FOOTBALL.

WAX BA RUGBY UNION

The annual meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union was held in L urio’s Awamutu Hotel on Saturday evening last. The President, Mr P. O’Cannor, presided, and the following delegates besides a number of others—were pro sent ; Messrs Maeky and Allcock (Parerangi), Bowden and Cooper (To Awamulu), Wilson (2) (Kihikihi), Bruce and Papeseh (Pirongia). The Utoroliangn Club was not represented. Balance-sheet. Tito balance-sheet showed the total receipts to ho £33 16s 2d, and the expenditure £lB 4s Hit, leaving a credit balance ot £ls 11a 3d.— the balance-sheet us read was unanimously adopted, and the sum of £2 2s voteil to the Secretary for hia services. Officer-',— The officers for the ensuing year were as follows ;—President, Mr P. O’Connor; Vice-Presidents, Messrs Win. Taylor, W. G, Park, 0. J. Greenslade, P. W. Lang. M. 11. R., E. H. Aubin, F. O. Germane, 0. J. Storey. M. S. Liuria, J. Bathurst, W. Maeky, J. Ryburn, M Gorrie, A. Wallace, U. Burton, G. Farquhar, G. Walsh and Geo. McKmder; Auditor, Mr C Bowden ; Secretary and Treasurer. Mr Forde (re-elected). —Mr O’Connor briefly thanked the members for the honour of re-chctlng him us their President. He assured all that tire Association would receive his support whether President or otherwise. It was ill-health that prevented him attending more meetings of tho Uuion,and he very much regretted being absent from the late presentation of cups at Paterangi. On Mr O’Couuor consenting to tho re-eiection there was much applause from tho members present. Opening Day.—lt was dcc'ded on the casting vote of tho Chainnaii to commence the cap contests on Saturday, May 10 th.

Lack of Interest.—A good deal nf discussion took place with reference to teams allowing matches at the latter end of the season go by default when it was seen that they stood no chance for the possession of the caps. To avoid this it was resolved that in the event of any team making two defaults during the first round they bo struck out of the cap contests.

Pateranoi Clud. —The meeting decided that Paterangi should travel to Otoi-ohanga the same as othtr teams. Junior Matches.—The question of junior matches under the auspices of the Union was allowed to stand over till next mooting, which will tike place in about a fortnight.

Fixtures. The following fixtures wore arranged and referees appointed : May 10th : Oturolmnga v. Pirongia at Pirongia (Mr Maeky) ; Kihikihi v. Paterangi at Paterangi (Mr Bowrltn) ; Te Awamutu, bye. May 17th; Te Awan.utu v. Pirongia at Pirongia (Mr Maeky); Kihikihi v. Otorohanga at Otorohanga (Mr Ba-ry), Paterangi, bye. May 24th : Paterangi v. To Awamutu at Te Awnmutu (Mr Berry) ; Kihikihi v. Pirongia at Kihikihi (Mr Bowden), Otorohanga, bye. May 31st : Otorohanga v. Paterangi at Paterangi (Mr Bowden) ; Te Awamutu v. Kihikihi at Kihikihi (Mr M.tcky), Pirongia, bye. June Ist: Pirongia v. f’atei-ungi at Paterangi (Mr Bowden) ; Te Awamutu v. Otorohanga ut Te Awamutu (Mr Berry), Kihikihi, bye.

Tuanks.—A vote of thanks to the Chairman and outgoing officers closed the meeting, Subso option.—The subscription to tho Union was fixed ut £2 2s. HAMILTON UNION. City Club. The annual meeting of ihe City Football Club was held iu St. Peter’s Schoolroom lustevming. Mr K. S. Brookfield (President) picsided, and there was a good attendance of members. Balance-sheet. —The balance-sheet showed the receipts to be £4 I la, and the expenditure £2 7s lOd, leaving a credit, balance of £2 3s 2d. The President slated that this was very satisfactory, considering that the Club was a now one. —A notable feature of the above was that every member had paid his subscription. Tho Club had won tho caus presented by the Union, and were leading for the badges when the fixtures were cancelled. They played six matches, won four, lost one, and one was drawn, scoring 34 points, against 13. Tho balauce-shcot was adopted. OFFICERS.— The election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Mr K. S. Brookfield (re-elected) ; vice-presidents (tc-elecicd), Messrs J. \V. 11. Bright,!. S. Bond, H. E. Tristram, C. Cowley, A E. Manning ; Iron, secretary and treasurer. Mr A. Holloway ; delegates to the Union, Messrs C. lories, H. Good, F. Hill j delegate to managing committee, Mr A. J. Pcaooek ; selection committee, Messrs A. J. Peacock, H. Johnson, A. Holloway. It was decided to elect the captain at the first match.

Message of Condolence,—The sect-e----taiy was Retracted to write to Mr Bond, vice-president, conveying the club's sympathy with him in his sad bereavement. Colours.—The colours decided on were maroon jerseys autl white knickerbockers. SDitsouimoN.—The subscription fee was fixed at 2s Gd. Thinks.—Votes of thanks were passed to the outgoing secretary (Mr H. Pike) and the chairman, WAIKATO UNION. Ngaruawahia Club, The annual meeting of the above Clnb was hold on Saturday evening in tho Delta Hotel. There were about 35 present, and MrJ. H. Wright St. Clair occupied the chuir. Finance.—Tho financial statement showed a small debit balance.

Officers.—The officers for the ensuing year were then elected, lust year’s list being taken. Mr A. J. Simmelhag was re-elected s< crotary, and Mr J. Ed kin 3 duptaiu. The Coming Season.—The prospects for the coming season wore considered good, us several new players have taker, up their residence in the district since last year.

Subscriptions.—lt was resolved that the rule re subscriptions bo strictly enforced as only about half of last year’s members had paid up.
