ST. JOHN'S CHURCH, TE AWAMUTU.

Thb following is the report of the Vestry to be submitted to the Parishioners this evening : The Vestry have much pleasure in being able to meet the Parishioners with a clean sheet. Repairs : Owing to the generous and hearty response of Parishioners and friends to tlie Vestry's request for funds for this purpose the church is now in * thorough state of repair. Finance : The accounts speak for themselves, and show that we have paid £55 lis 3d for repairs, outstanding accounts from last year of £3 10s, all current expenses, leaving a small balance in hand of lis (id.

Parsonago : In view of the Vicar's approaching marriage, it will be necessary for the district of Waikato West to provide a residence, and we suggest that an expression of opinion should be obtained from each parish meeting of the district as to the. advisability of renting a house and the building up of the Parsonage funds—which now stands at £l7s—by means of sales ot works, entertainments and subscriptions. Lny Services : These are not so well atteuded ab they should be, and we hope to see an improvement in this direction. Suuday-f-chool : This has been again started under an efficient staff of teachers, and should be supported by all our people. Choir organist : In the interest of the church iiiusio wo have thought it desirable to appoint an organist at a small salary. Vicar's stipend : This has been regularly paid. Offertories : We hope for better results during the coming year, the weekly average since the advect of the vicar being only £1 Is 6d. Entertainments : We recommend that an effort be made to do without these in aid of the church funds during the coming year. Choir : Male voices are urgently required, and it is hoped that those who are able to assist will come forward without waiting to be specially asked. King Country : The vicar is making arrangements for holding more frequent services and more regular visitation in this part of the parish. The settlers have been asked to raise the sum of £6O yearly, and if this can be done, and there is every reason to believe it will be, an engagement will be entered into with a student to live at the vicarage and to assist in this extension of the parish work.

Thanks : The best thanks are due to the ladies' committee of the parsonage fund, the lay-readers, choir, and Sundayschool officers. The balance sheet shows total receipts, £127 13s 9d, and expenditure £127 2s 6(1, leaving balance in Bank of lis 3d- The Parsonage Fund shows ia balance of £174 17s 2d on fixed deposit in Bank. The Sunday-school accounts shows receipts £1 12s 10d, and expenditure, 16s, leaviag a balance of 16s lOd in the hands of Superintendent. ,
