MR LEVIEN'S CHARGES.
(by electkic telegbatci— copyright). Sydney, June 28. Mr Howell, manager of the Proprietary Mine at Broken Hill, was called today to give evidence before the Commission set up to heur the charge made in the Legislative Assembly by Mr Levien against Mr Sleath. He deposed that he had never heard that an attempt was to be made to blow up himself and family, but he hud sent his family away as a precautionary measure. He had had several conversations with a man named Bennett, who told witness he might be blown up or something of that sort. Witness did not think Sloath or Ferguson would be guilty of such an act. He helped Bennett to go to South Africa. The Attorney - General, Mr Want, was called, but declined to answer questions. Mr Levien said he had decided not to ask any. Mr Sleath asked Mr Want whether he knew of anything to justify the charges, and witness replied that as a matter of professional etiquette he would say nothing.
