Sicfjness.—There is still a deal of sickness about here. Mrs Carroll is dangerously ill with inflammation of the lungs. Dr. Murdock, of Cambridge, was called in, aud 1 am pleased to report that sha is now slightly improving, and trust that she will soon be out of danger ; Mr Jennings is also very ill and in a very weak state. Mr Howe is now convalescent, and Mr T. Anderson is much better than he was, though still invalided. White Pheasant. —Mr E. Short, of this place, had the good luck to shoot on his own property, a pure white pheasant, a freak in the way of birds, which is, I understand, singularly rare ; Mr Shorii unfortunately neglected to attend to his prize in time, and was only able to preserve the head. Mr C. Storey, of Maungatautari, I am told, has a white pheasant on his property, which he guards jealously. This is the only other one known of about here.—(Own Correspondent).
