The sTeUow River is styled the " Sorrow of China." It is estimated that its floods in the present century have cost China 11.000,0000 lives*. The effect of cumphor eating upon the mind and eyesight is often terrible. It creates a sensation of the mind of dreamy stupefacticn which almost amounts to temporary imbecility, while persistent camphor taking not only impairs but frequently destroys the eyesight.
