THE WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.
♦ The Wfsleyan Conference opened at Wellington on Thursday evening. Delegates were present from all parts of the colony. The Rev. \V. Baumber, the retiring President, delivered an address, de-.iliug chjefly with the union of the Methodist Churches, which was brought about lust year. The Rev. P. W. Fairclough, of Kaiapoi, was elected President for the ensuing year, and the Rev. D. J. Murray Secretary of the Conference. (by telegraph.—own correspondent). Wellington, Last Night. The twenty-fourth conference of ihe "Wesleyun body opened in Wesley Church on Thursday evening, when the Rev. Mr Fairclough, editor of the Advocate, was elected President by a large majority of votes. The Kev. Win, Baumber delivered an eloquent retiring address, which was frequently applauded. The first draft of stations was read, and the Rev. Mr (Jarlick is put down for Hamilton, the Rev. Hugh Bigss is down for Paeroa, and the Rev. B. Rothwell for Whangarei. The Rev. Mr Mather is down for Grcymouth at present:, but many alterations are anticipated iii the second draft.
