WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION’S COMPETITIONS. GA WITH SHIELD AND OTHER MATCHES. MASTERTON & MARTINBOROUGH WIN. The Wairarapa Lawn. Tennis Association’s competition matches were commenced on Saturday in beautifully fine weatlier. In the Gawith Shield, competition, Maston defeated Carterton by 14 matches to 10 and Martin borough defeated Memorial by 13 matches to 11. An improved standard of play was seen in almost all grades. A GRADE. MASTERTON BEAT CARTERTON. Masterton, holders of the Gawith Shield, defeated Carterton by 14 matches, 13 sets and 199 games to 10 matches, 9 sets and 166 games. ST. MATTHEW’S BEAT TE ORE ORE St. Matthew’s defeated Te Ore Ore by a margin of 8 games. Both teams won 12 matches, but St. Matthew’s scored .133 games to their opponents 125.
