SUGGESTED BY BRITISH SCIENTIST. POSSIBLE WAR TIME RESERVE. LONDON, September 3. A food rich in proteins, which can be manufactured from grass, as a wartime diet for Britons, was described by Dr. ; R. E. Slade, of London, when addressing the British Association. Dr. Slade said it was possible to obtain 7001bs. of crude proteins from an acre of grass, which would make a useful food for pigs and also, in emergency, a nutritious and palatable ration for people. All the arable land in Britain, if sown in grass, could produce enough “cheese” to feed 4(1,000,000 people.
