“CHINA OF TO-DAY.”

ADDRESS AT SOLWAY COLLEGE. “China of To-Day’’ was the subject of a most illuminating and interesting address given at Solway’ College last night by the Rev. Arthur Taylor ,of Scotland, and formerly a missioner in China. Mr. Taylor, who was introduced by Mrs. M. B. Thompson, Principal of Solway College, painted a telling picture of modern China and referred to the great changes that had taken place during the past ten years. He contrasted ancient China with the conditions prevailing to-day and dealt with the wonderful background and potentialities of the country. Those governing China, he said, were Christian, cultured gentlemen. Mr. Taylor also referred to -the great strides made in education and to the wonderful facilities for travel, both by land and air. At the conclusion of his address Mr. Taylor was accorded a hearty vote of thanks on the motion of Mrs. T. R. Barter.
