CONCLUDING BUSINESS IN WELLINGTON. i ATTITUDE OF THE BRITISH PEOPLES. EXPRESSIONS OF THANKS & APPRECIATION. WELLINGTON, October 7. The final remit on the agenda adopted by the Congress of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire was one from Melbourne, the tenor of which was to declare that British peoples faced the world as a united family, not with uniformity but with unity. It expressed the desirability of taking all possible means to maintain the closest liason between the Dominions and the dependencies comprising the Empire for the better development of commerce and industry' and for the co-ordination of imperial defence, which was essential for the protection of Empire trade shipping routes. Votes of thanks and appreciation were accorded to the Governor-General, Lord Galway, and Lady Galway in their relations with the Congress; to the Government and Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) for their interest and their help in assisting the delegates see something of the people of New Zealand and industry; to the Associated Chambers of New Zealand for many months preparation for the congress and to the Mayor, Corporation and people of Wellington and the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. WELLINGTON, October 7. Delegates to the conference of th® British Empire Chambers of Commerce, which has concluded, left to-night for Lyttelton for official tours of the South Island, after which they return to th® north. The women attached to th® party this afternoon visited the Trubyi King Karitane Hospital.—(P.A.)
