FISHERIES RESEARCH.

ORGANISATION SET UP. STATEMENT BY MINISTER OF MARINE. (By Telegraph—“ The Age” Special.) WELLINGTON, August 13. The Minister of Marine (the Hon. P. Fraser) after a discussion in the House of Representatives on the importance of conserving New Zealand’s fisheries as a valuable food supply, announced that in conjunction with the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry), a fisheries research organisation had been set up to secure information on the whole subject of fresh and salt water fish. This work would be extended when the information became available and scientists would be properly equipped for investigation. The House proposes to utilise Friday’s sitting to put through its final stages the Civil List Bill, which authorises the appointment of Parliamentary Under-Secretaries.
