RUGBY CONTROL.
MEETING OF WAIRARAPA UNION. REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES. A meeting of . the Management Committee of the Wairarapa Rugby Union was held at Carterton on Thursday night. Mr. J. C. D. Mackley, manager of the junior representative team to Napier reported on the visit, and was accorded a vote of thanks. It was felt that the success of the team was particularly gratifying, and would be an incentive to junior football in the district. It was decided to invite the Hawke’s Bay junior representatives to pay a second visit to Wairarapa, the game to be for the Willoughby-Donald Cup, now held by Wairarapa. If a separate date is not acceptable to Hawke’s Bay, the match to be a curtain-raiser to the senior game on the day of the jubilee celebrations. The Hawke’s Bay Union wrote suggesting August 26 as the date for its second senior representative match at Wairarapa. It was decided to reply asking Hawke’s Bay to fix another date, as this date was already engaged for the Wellington match against Wairarapa. The Taranaki Union wrote agreeing to August 1 as the date _ for Wairarapa’s visit. Mr. K. Fainbrother was appointed manager of the team. The proposed senior representative match with Wanganui, at Wanganui, was cancelled owing to no date being available. The Bush Union submitted names of available referees for the match against the Bush on August 5. It was decided to leave the matter of selecting a referee in the hands of the Bush Union. The Bush Union wrote agreeing to August 12 as the date for the third grade representative game. It was decided to ask the Referees’ Association to carry out a boot inspection on August 8 and to have inspections made regularly thereafter. 1 _^ r - d - McKenzie, manager of the Wairarapa senior team which played Hawke’s Bay at Masterton recently, furnished his report and was accorded a vote of thanks. Senior and junior nine-a-side tournaments will be held at Carterton on ' aturda y, August 1. Nominations must reach the secretary not later than Thursday, July 30. It was resolved to continue the third and fourth grade competitions on August. 1 and to arrange a seven-a-side competition for the fourth grade at a later date. Permission was granted to the High School Club to play matches as follow: July 25, second fifteen v. Hutt second fifteen; July 31. first fifteen v. Napier High School; August 22 and 24, tourna- - Imeat between Wairarapa, Dannevirke, I Tlutt High Schools and Scots’ I College, Wellington.
