GERMAN AIRSHIPS.
FLIGHTS OVER BRITISH INDUSTRIAL AREAS. SUSPECTED ESPIONAGE. QUESTIONS TO BE ASKED IN COMMONS. BERLIN, July 5. An official of the Air Ministry, commenting on reported British complaints that the Graf Zeppelin and the Hindenburg flew over British industrial districts with a view to espionage, concerning which questions are to be asked in the House of Commons next week, said: “We have no knowledge of official British objection. If one of the Zeppelins flew over industrial regions it was only because the airship’s welfare demanded it.’’
ANOTHER VISIT. LOW FLYING OVER DOCKS & AERODROMES. SIGHT FOR HOLIDAYMAKERS. (Received Monday, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 5. Thousands of holidaymakers on Sunday watched the Zeppelin Hindenburg move up Bristol Channel, after which it flew over Southampton Docks, the Portsmouth Naval Dockyard and the Southampton, Shoreham and Thorney Island aerodromes. The visit adds significance to the questions to be asked in the House of Conunons on the subject. The Hindenburg’s altitude was estimated at 900 feet. Watchers easily descried the heads and shoulders of members of the crew.
