SMASH IN AUCKLAND.
STOLEN CAB HITS ’BUS & LAMP STANDARDS. TWO MEN TAKEN TO HOSPITAL. AUCKLAND, July 3. Stolen from outside a house in Carl- » ton Gore Road, Grafton, earlier in the evening, a sedan motor car hit a 8L Heliers *bus being driven along the waterfront road toward the city shortly after nine o'clock and was badly damaged. After glancing from the back of the *bus, it hit and smashed a lamp standard and somersaulted on to its back. The driver and three passengers, all men, were dragged out by the driver of the *bus. Two of the passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver and the other passenger disappeared. The lamp standard into which the car crashed was snapped off at the base and the concussion also broke the lamp off the top.—(P.A.)
