CROSSING COLLISION.

LOBBY ft RAILWAY ENGINE DAMAGED. MOTOR DRIVER SUSTAINS HEAD INJURIES. INVERCARGILL, July 3. A collision between a lorry and a train going to. Tuatapere occurred at the West Plains crossing this afternoon. The driver of the lorry, John Gorton, of Tuatapere, suffered head injuries and, after being treated at the Southland Hospital, proceeded to his home. Two other occupants of the lorry escaped, but the vehicle was badly damaged. The engine also was damaged and had to be brought back to Invercargill and replaced by another one.—(P.A.)
