PLANNED DEATH.
SUICIDE DECLARED SANE. LONDON INSURANCE CLAIM. LONDON, July 2. Summing np in the Rowlandson case, in which Mrs. de la Poor Beresford, on behalf of creditors, is suing the Royal Insurance Company for £43,000 in respect of insurance arising out of the suicide of her uncle, Major Charles Rowlandson, Mr. Justice Swift expressed the opinion that the deliberateness with which death was planned was not evidence of insanity. On the contrary, Rowlandson deliberately thought out the scheme. The jury returned a verdict that Rowlandson was sane, and Mr. Justice Swift, after hearing legal argument regarding the insurance company's position, adjourned his judgment.
