CORKY SCAB.

I POTATO DISEASE BREAKS OUT IN VICTORIA. CROPS TO BE MARKETED UNDER INSPECTION. (Received Friday, 10.35 p.m.) MELBOURNE, July 3. For many years, New Zealand potatoes have been excluded from Victoria owing to the alleged existence of corky scab. An outbreak of corky scab has now been discovered in the potato cropa of the Otway and Beech Forest districts of Victoria. The quantity affected is five hundred to a thousand tons. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr. Hogan), himself a potato grower, decided to allow the marketing of the affected crop, subject to strict inspection. The districts concerned are the finest potato growing areas in Victoria.
