SIR CECIL DAY.

EFFORT TO RETAIN SERVICES. WELLINGTON, June 30. A special effort is being made by the Government to retain the services of Sir Ceeil Day, Official Secretary to the Governor-General of New Zealand. Sir Cecil is in England, where the continued ill-health of Lady Day has compelled him to tender his resignation to the Prime Minister, who said, in an interview to-day, that the Government was trying to get his services in the High Commissioner's Office in London. If that could be arranged, his job would be directly associated with League of Nations affairs as they affect New Zealand at Geneva. Sir Cecil Day had proved his worth in New Zealand over a long period and it would be a pity to lose his services.—(P.A,)
