TWO MORE BURGLARIES.
PREMISES IN QUEEN STREET ENTERED. SUM OF MONEY TAKEN. Two shops in Queen Street were broken into on Wednesday night, bringing the total burglaries in Masterton this month to seven. Active steps are being taken by the Police to apprehend those responsible but so far their efforts have been unsuccessful. The shops entered on Wednesday night were those of Mr. J. Bouzaid, electrician, and Mr. A. Rolph, cycle dealer. Entry into Mr. Bouzaid's shop was gained by forcing a temporary light covering over a broken glass panel in the back door. With the covering removed, it was a simple task to turn the key, which had been left in the door, and enter the shop. A sum of £3 was taken from the till, the intruder apparently scorning a few pennies which were left untouched. Mr. Bouzaid had fortunately banked a sum of about £3O, which had been in the shop, that afternoon. The shop was broken into between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. A rear window was broken to gain entry into Mr. Bolp-h’s shop, from which, however, nothing was taken. The burglar apparently left by the front door which was found ajar later in the night.
