THEFT ADMITTED.
A STORY OF GAMBLING. HAWERA, May 25. A story of gambling on cards and racehorses was unfolded in the Magistrate’s Court this morning when Hector Albert Stewart was charged with the theft of £576 6s 2d while in the employ of the Egmont Box Company. The defalcations covered a period from February to May 15 of this year. The accused pleaded guilty, and was remanded to the New Plymouth Supreme Court for sentence to-morrow.—(P.A.)
