BURIED IN SAND.

FARMER SERIOUSLY INJURED. ACCIDENT NEAR WAIUKU. AUCKLAND, February 14. Buried under a fall of about eight tons of sand and severely injured, a farmer, George Gillman, aged 50, married, narrowly escaped death by suffocation on the Tanrangarurn Road, live miles from Waiuku. Gillman was saved by the efforts of a companion, .1. Short, Junr., of Waipipi, who escaped the fall of sand and dug desperately to get the injured man’s head free, enabling him to breathe. Gillman, who lives at Tanrangarurn, was later admitted to the Auckland Hospital with internal injuries. His condition was fairly serious.—(P.A.)
