SOVIET READY.

POWEBFUL ARMY IN CASE OF ATTACK. FASCISTS CONDEMNED. MOSCOW, February 12. “We must warn all who are craving for Soviet blood and for colonies that we have a powerful army ready to break the neck of anyone daring to attack,” writes M. Liubchenko, chairman of the Ukrainian Council of People’s Commissars in “Izvestia.” Describing the German Fascists as representatives of medieval barbarism, he said it was obvious that they and the Japanese militarists were in contact with Polish land owners with a view to war. BRITISH COLONIES. OPPOSITION TO TRANSFER. LONDON, February 12. Apropos the discussions in Europe concerning the need for review of colonial possessions and mandates, twen-ty-five Conservatives, including Mr. L. C. M. S. Amery and Lord Winterton, have tabled a motion in the House of Commons opposing the transfer of British colonies and mandated territories “for the welfare, protection, and enlightened government of which the British Government holds an honourable trust.” MATTER NOT CONSIDERED. BUGBY, February 12. In answer to Sir Henry Page Croft at question time in the House of Commons, the Colonial Secretary (Mr. J. H. Thomas) stated that his Majesty’s Government had not considered, and was not considering, the handing over of any of the British colonies or territories held under mandate.—(British Official Wireless).
