CARTERTON SALE.
MESSRS WRIGHT STEPHENSON &
CO., LTD. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—We held our weekly sale at Carterton yesterday when we offered a good yarding to a fair attendance. Sheep sold at late rates, cattle were slightly better all round, there being a good enquiry for springers and fat and forward cows. Pigs were in advance of last week and sold particularly well. Following are the prices:— . Sheep: Shorn wethers (small), to IG/4; shorn wethers, to 20/6; shorn f.m. ewes, to 17/1; b.f. wethers, to 18/6; woolly wethers, to 24/3; shorn fat wethers, to 23/; shorn b.f. ewes,, to 17/1.
Cattle: Springing heifers, £3/10/, £4 7/6 to £4/12/6-; yearling Jersey heifers, £2/10/ to £2/15/; vealers, £2 to £2 14/; fat cows, £3/10/, £3/15/, £4; forward cows, 37/6; £2/5/, £2/12/6 to £3; store cows, 22/6, 25/ to 32/6; cull cows, 15/ to 19/; empty heifers, £2/1/; potter bulls, £2/6/, £3, £3/15/, £4/2/6 to £5; cows and calves, £2/10/, £2/15/ to £3/17/.
Pigs: Weaners (small), 11/ to 13/6; weaners, 15/, 16/, 17/6, 18/6, 19/ to 19/6; slips, 22/6, 23/6 to 25/6; porkers, 31/, 34/, 37/6, £2/1/ to £2/3/; baconers, £2/5/, £2/8/, £2/10/ to £2/15/6.
