BUSINESS AT ANNUAL MEETING.

The second annual meeting of the Master ton group of the Toe H movement was held on Thursday, Mr. R. Brewerton presiding. Prior to the commencement of business members stood in silence in respect for the late Mr. H. V. Haise, who died last week. The report of the secretary, Mr. R. Richards, stated that the group met on 4G occasions, with an average attendance of 15 members. During the year the group lost one of its keenest members in Mr. N. Parsonson, who in May last left to take up duties in Carterton. Mr. D. Fairbrother was appointed treasurer <as his successor. Six initiations were performed during the year, bringing the total number’ of initiated members to 20. The group visited a number of others and received return visits. During the year the following speakers addressed the group: Messrs R. Stidolph (bird life), H. B. Tomlinson (League of Nations), H. Pither 1 (Norfolk Island), T. Jordan (civic affairs), Butler (telephone systems), S. Price (lightning blackboard sketches}, Padre E. J. Rich (international affairs), G. R. Sykes (Abraham Lincoln’s life), C. M. Bowden (Toe H, its aims and ideals). “The most notable evening during the year was the mixed guest night, at which the attendance was approximately 130,” continued the report. 4 4 Under the capable leadership of Mr. J. Wells, a short play was produced and staged at the mixed guest night, the region guest night' at Lower Hutt, and the Sedgley Home. At the King’s jubilee celebrations in MaSterton the group, in conjunction with the Rovers, produced a float representing Australia. Although on several occasions the attendance at the weekly meetings was below the average, the nights have seldom lacked interest and enthusiasm on the part of members.” The ceremony of light was taken by Mr. R. Brewerton, and Padre J. Jones took family prayers. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Chairman, Mr.. J. L. Hair; secretary, Mr. J. Wells; treasurer, Mr. D. Fairbrother; jobmaster, Mr. C. Wilton; housemaid, Mr. H. Carle.
