SPRING CATTLE FAIR.

T.CJ). COMPANY, DTD. IMPROVEMENT ON last YEAR’S PRICES. , The New Zealand- Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report:—W e held our Annual Spring Cattle Sale yesterday when we had l a yarding of 1,174 head of station cattle. The whole yardparticularly the yearlings, was one of the best quality yarded for some considerable time and, with a very large attendance of buyers from Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu and Bush districts, as well as local buyers, the sale was one of the most spirited seen for some years, every pen being sold under the hammer as we went. Comparing this sale with our corresponding sale twelve months ago, the following will show the approxiate increase in values per head of various lines:—Fat cattle, £2 to £2/10/; 2-year steers, £1 to £1 10/; yearling steers, £1 to £l/5/; store cows, £1; 2-year heifers, £1; yearling heifers, £1 to £l/5/- Mr. Laird Meredith’s 2-year steers sold remarkably well at £6/12/, while Messrs Beetham Bros, topped the market in the yearlings section, both the Herefords l and Polled Angus making £5/1/, while their heifers made £3/2/. Mr. Jas. Douglas’s fat heifers made £9/1.1/, while Mr. L. Donald’s cows made £B/5/. The following will give an indication of values received:—

Fat cattle: Light fat bullocks, £8 10/, £B/17/6 to £9/15/; lighter do., £7 2/6, £7/10/ to £8; fat heifers, £6/2/6, £6/10/, £7, £7/16/ to £9/11/; good fat cows, £7, £7/10/, £7/17/6, £8 to £B/5/; light cows, £4, £4/15/, £5 to £6/17/6; runners,. £4/10/ to £5/15/; vealers, £2, £2/5/ to £3/2/. Three-year steers: A/e R. Judd, 8 at £6/15/; a/e C. C. Horsbrugh, 6 at £6 10/; a/e N. Albretson, 6 at £5/15/ (horn cattle). Two-year steers: A/c Laird Meredith, 32 at £6/12/; a/e Mamaku Station, 68 at £5/19/; various small lots made, £4 15/, £5, £5/5/ to £5/15/. Yearling steers: A/c Messrs Beetham Bros., 50 P.A. at £5/1/; 30 Herefords. at £5/1/; a/c Walter Cameron, 40 at £5; a/e R. E. Graham, 10 at £4/17/; a/c J. Innes, 10 at £4/16/; a/c M. H. Perston, 8 at £4/1,6/; a/e D. H. Speedy and Sons, 74 at £4/11/; a/e Robt. Judd, 23 at £4/8/; a/c L, Donald, 11 at £4 2/; a/e Langdon Estate, 23 at £4; a/e S. W. Smith, 21 at £3/19/; a/e R. O. Smith Estate, £3/15/; a/e W. B. Hall, 18 at £3/15/; other small lots, £3/5/, £3/7/6, £3/10/ to £3/12/.
