CRICKET CONTROL.

WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING. I NO ALTERATION MADE I IN CONSTITUTION. I ELECTION OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Cricket Association, held in the A. and P. Rooms last night. The president, Mr. E. 8. Smith occupied the chair. Mr. Smith said he was very pleased to see ' such a representative attendance and thanked the secretary and Management Committee for their work during the past season. Moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, Mr. Smith referred to the very successful season experienced last year. The games had been very keen, with most of the results in doubt until the end. The three decisive wins of the representative team showed that the standard of cricket in the Wairarapa was being maintained. He congratulated the Old Boys Club on winning the senior championship and also the Bidwill Cup, which had been won for three years in succession. He also congratulated Carterton on winning the junior championship and Technical School on taking the third grade championship. Mr. Smith said he was very sorry that the United Club had withdrawn. It was always a very hard club to beat and gave everyone a good game. He was pleased to see that a number of the members had joined up and strengthened other clubs. Referring to the visit to New Zealand of the English team, Mr. .Smith said it was to be regretted that the Englishmen would not be seen in Masterton. The Management Committee had gone into the matter very thoroughly, but had found that it was unable to meet the financial cost. They would have to pay £lO each day at the Park and considered they would be unable to get the gate or raise the funds required. There was every indication that the coming season would be a very successful one. It was very pleasing -to see that the Wellington Association had a good professional, as his work was reflected in Wairarapa players when they came in contact with Wellington teams. The Wellington Association was very helpful to country cricket. The finances of the association were not very strong, but there was a small credit balance. Speaking to a motion sponsored by the Old Boys Club, Mr. J. K. Logan said it provided for a Management Committee of nine, one more than last year, made up of three ex-officio members (the president, secretary, and treasurer), one representative of jun- . £ clubs and five other members, not r**Jjre than two members to be elected from one club (including ex-officio members). An amendment was moved by Mr. Knowles for two junior cricket representatives and four other members, besides the ex-officio members. Another amendment proposed increasing the number On the Management Committee to ten, so as to allow two junior representatives and one each for every senior team (five). The first amendment was withdrawn in favour of the second, which was defeated. The motion was also defeated, so that the constitution of the Management Committee remains the same as last year. Officers were elected as follow:— Patron, Mr. F. G. Maunsell; president, Mr. C. Perry; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Rippon, L McLeod, D. C. Collins, D. H. 8. Riddiford, T. Jordan, G. Vincent, F. Dennes, L. H. Smart, F. Wall ad G. D. Wilson; hon. secretary, Mr. K. C. Montgomery; hon. treasurer, Mr. G. P. Peterson; hon. auditor, Mr. A. P. ( Smith; delegate to the New Zealand Cricket Council, Mr. D. Parton; Management Committee: Messrs R. J. Weir, S. Jenkins, J. K. Logan, H. B; Massey, W. Peterson.

Votes of thanks were passed to the auditor (Mr. Smith), delegate on the Cricket Council (Mr. Parton), treasurer (Mr Peterson), secretary (Mr. Montgomery) and the Management Committee for their services last year. It was decided to open the season on October I'9.
