The Union Company’s steamer Talune, on which the Zealandia’a cargo was loaded, was unable to sail for Hobart to-day because of the last-minute absence of two members of the crew. The vessel’s sailing has been postponed. The missing members of the crew returned to the Talune and at 3 p.m. gathered their clothes and left the ship. The captain of the Talune had a long talk with the men on the wharf and while this was going on two others left the ship, taking ’ their belongings. A further call for a crew was made at 3 p.m., bnt was unsuccessful. Thereafter the vessel’s sailing was postponed. Another attempt to obtain a crew will be made to-morrow, but is regarded as hopeless.
It was announced this afternoon that two calls for a crew for the freighter Mildura had also been unsuccessful and that the vessel’s departure for Melbourne had been postponed.

The Wanganella left for Sydney, bnt the crew intend to-night to give twenty-four hours’ notice, which means that they will leave the ship upon arrival in Sydney on Sunday. EXTREMISTS BLAMED. HOPES OF REVERSING STRIKE DECISION. SYDNEY, August 9. Referring to the shipping dispute, the "Herald” saya that the occurrence of a big shipping upheaval will depend on the attitude of the working seamen at present engaged on the vessels. The meeting yesterday was dominated by extremists, and the strike decision was reached against the advice of officials. It is likely that another meeting will be convened in the hope of reversing the decision.
