TRUST AFFAIRS.

BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. GRATITUDE FOE GRANTS. The chairman, Mr. A. O. Jones, presided at the monthly meeting of the Trust Lands Trust, held last night. Others present were: Messrs H. P. Hugo, E. G. Eton, J. McFarlane Laing, J. L. Hughes, L. J. Taylor, D. Caselberg and W. H. Jackson. The Central School, the Dental Clinic Committee and the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society wrote expressing thanks to the Trustees for grants allocated to them. “It is pleasing to see these letters of thanks coming in so freely,” observed the chairman.

Letters were received from the headmasters of the Masterton primary schools stating that amounts made available by the Trust would be adequate to meet the requirements of necessitous eases.

The District Lands Registrar forwarded a copy of the proposed legislation for rectifying land boundaries and affecting two sections owned by the Trust. A request was made that the Trust endorse its consent to the legislation on the plan.

A letter was received from the Permanent Investment and Loan Association, Greytown, agreeing to a new lease for 21 years of a section owned by the Trust. The association also forwarded a cheque fur £lOO in accordance with the provisions contained in the existing lease. Mr. E. G. Coddington, headmaster of the Central School, wrote advising that the school inspectors had made a very complimentary report regarding the supply of free school books by the Trust to pupils. ‘‘lt is hardly likely that we shall re-

quire £25 let alone £50,” observed the chairman, referring to a suggestion by the Education Department that the amount of £so‘ provided by the Trust for unauthorised expenditure should be reduced to £25. The department considered that £5O was too great. It was resolved to comply with the request of the department. The Treasurer reported a bank debit balance of £420 14s 3d. Receipts for the taonth amounted to £474 4s 3d.
