SEQUEL TO BETTING.
NEW ZEALANDER SENTENCED IN SYDNEY. (Received Friday, 9.20 p.m.) SYDNEY, April 12. At Quarter Sessions to-day, Edgar Hartley McCall, aged 36, was sentenced to twenty-three months’ imprisonment for the theft of £l,BOO, the property of his employers, Sandfords Ltd., fish merchants, of Auckland. McCall attributed his downfall to betting with spielers at two-up.
