AMATEUR SWIMMING.
CARNIVAL NEXT SATURDAY. RECORD ENTRIES RECEIVED. The Masterton Amateuw Swimming and Life Saving Club is holding a grand carnival in the Dixon Street Baths on Saturday next, March 9. The first event will start at 7.30 p.m. Record entries have been received, the following clubs being represented:— Wellington, ’Varsity, Hutt, Levin, Martinborough, Petone, Featherston, Greytown and Carterton. As seating accommodation is limited the public is advised to purchase admission tickets. These can be had from members of the committee and at Messrs J. L. Murray’s Limited. The prices of admission are: Adults, Is; children under 12 years, 6d. CLUB EVENTS. CARNIVAL POSTER CONTEST. The weekly meeting of the Masterton Amateur Swimming and Life Saving Club will be held in the Dixon Street Baths to-night, weather permitting, commencing at 7.30 o’clock. The usual events will be held and in addition a novelty event which should cause a good deal of amusement. For the person who makes the beet iposter for the club ’a carnival on March 9 the following prizes will be given:—ss, first; 2s 6d, second; free ticket to carnival, third. The conditions will be: Poster must be 20 inches by 30 inches with following wording, "Masterton Swimming Club; Grand Carnival; Saturday, March 9 at 7.30 ip.m.; Wellington champions competing.” The posters are to be delivered to the County Office by 9 o’clock on Friday morning.
