SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS. FEATHERSTON. ' ((*The. Age” Special.) Sneak thieves have been busy during, ■the last few weeks. A fortnight ago vegetables and fruit were being removed, but now it is moat. Four householders lost their Sunday dinners through leaving them in. outdoor safes. Ducks passing over the outskirts of the town at dusk have* attracted shots from a certain type of sportsman. One bird was picked up inf the main street on Monday evening. On one occasion a man was seen firing at a flight of ducks. The various unemployed committees of the South Wairarapa are attempting to form a central body to deal with the vitally important questions of allocations, relief moneys, job conditions and organisation. A party of prospectors have commenced operations on the coast near Cape Pailiser. The Featherston Football Club held its annual meeting last Monday evening. About sixty members were present. Mr. W. R. Johnson, club president, was unavoidably absent, and Mr. G. Julian occupied the chair. The annual report and balance sheet was read and members considered it remarkably satisfactory in view of last year’s conditions. The following officers were elect 3d:— Patron, Mr. F. C. Yule; president, Mr. W. R. Johnson; secretary, Mr. G. Julian; treasurer, Mr. L. Tilley; auditor, Mr. H. Rolls. The appointment of a club captain was left to the incoming committee.

It was decided to enter in all com* petitions above the fifth grade. Past years had proved that the club eotiid not support lower grade teams throughout the season.

The delegates to the Wa Ira-una Rugby Union’s annual meeting wi. : ‘ Messrs. Johnson, Brough and F. I*l. Yule.

It was decided to place Featherston’* claim to representative fixtures before the union.

A vote of thanks to retiring officers closed the meeting.
