GARDENING CLUB.
MEETING AT MAURICEVILLE. SHOW ABANDONED. A general meeting of the Mauriceville and District Gardening Club was held in the Mauriceville West Memorial Hall on Tuesday afternoon. Mr. W. P. Carter, president, was in the chair and a large number of members were present. The president referred to the recent earthquake and proposed a vote of sympathy with those who had suffered loss as a result of the visitation. The holding of the annual show was discussed and it was decided to abandon it for this year. A suggestion was made to hold a spring or summer show. This will be considered at a later date.
Mrs. H. T. Wood recently gave a most informative demonstration on decorative floral work at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Carter. Members derived much instruction from the meeting and a very hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Woods. A hearty vote of thanks to the president and secretary for the work they had done in connection with the proposed show which had now been abandoned, concluded the meeting.
