PARTICULARS OF MASTERTON COUNTY.

COMPARISON WITH JUNE. Comprehensive particulars of road traffic tallies taken at points in the county for the seven days from December IO to December 16, 1933, were tabled at yesterday’s meeting of the Masterton County Council. Following are details of the daily average and the total number of vehicles over the various sections, the figures of the June tally being given in parentheses:—

Wellington-Napier Main Highway (tally taken at Opaki junction); Mas-terton-Opaki: Weekly total, 2828 (1777); daily average, 404 (354). Opaki-Mt. Bruce, weekly total, 1665 (1046); daily average, 248 (150). Opaki-Mauriceville, weekly total, 1163 (731); daily average, 166 (104). Wellington-Napier Main Highway /tally taken at Waingawa bridge). Through traffic, weekly total, 17,138 (5,366); daily average, 1,010 (766). Masterton-Waingawa, weekly total, 6,483 (4,921); daily average, 925 (703). Railway Road, weekly total, 556 (445); daily average, 94 (63). Masterton-Weber Main Highway (tally taken at junction of MastertonWeber and Masterton-Castlepoint Highways at Te Ore Ore). Masterton to junction at Te Ore Ore, weekly total, 3,928 (2,202); daily average, 560 (314). Via Masterton-Castlepoint Main Highway, weekly total, 2,46-3 (1,482); daily average, 453 (212). Via MasterfonWeber Main Highway, weekly total, 1,563 (720); daily average, 223 (102). Masterton-Martinborough Main Highway (tally taken at junction at Manaia), weekly total, 1,430 (775); daily average. 20-1 (111). 'On the motion of Councillor H. H. Mawley it was resolved to write to the Main Highways Board suggesting that it should summarise the traffic tally returns from time to time and send them to the various counties for their information.
