LIGHTHOUSE OF THE WORLD.
FRENCH ENGINEER'S PLANS FOR NEW TOWER. TWICE THE HEIGHT OF EIFFEL. (Received Wednesday, 9145 p.m.) PARIS, March 15. Freysinnet, a well-known engineer, has prepared plans of a tower in reinforced concrete, twice the height,of the Eiffel Tower, 2300 feet, to be ready for exhibition in 1937. He is hoping to repeat the sensation that the Eiffel Tower caused at the exhibition in 1899. The estimated cost is from £440,000 to £550,000. The first platform, 1640' feet, will be reached by motor cars and charabangs by means of inclined ways. The second platform, 1968 feet, will be reached by special cars. At the very summit will be a solarium, where sun cure will be possible, also a gigantic beacon. Freysinnet proposes to have it erected on Mont Vallerian. He suggests that the new Tower of Babel be called the Lighthouse of the World.
