FIRE AT TINUI.

SEVEN-ROOMED RESIDENCE DESTROYED. OCCUPANT'S' NARROW ESCAPE. There was a spectacular blaze at Tinui early yesterday morning when a seven-roomeeb residence, owned and occupied by Mr. IL J. Stevenson, was completely destroyed by fire. Mr. Stevenson was away in Wellington but his wife and family had an unenviable experience, escaping hurriedly in their night attire. When the occupants awoke about one a.m., the fire had a very strong hold and they just managed to get clear when part of the roof caved in. Nothing either in the way of furniture or personal effects was saved. Fanned by an easterly wind, the flames spread to the back portion of the Tinui store and for a time that building was also in danger. Part of the back of the store was burnt, but willing helpers prevented the fire from spreading to other portions of the building.
